lance was walking to lunch with his son as they passed my 240Z parked on the street today because i was working on the interior of my S70. i noticed they had stopped, so i said hi. turns out lance had had a Z with a vin # in the 3000 range. an early 70. it had louvers below the window that sucked fumes back into the car. he said it didn’t work well on dates…didn’t impress when the car smelled like gas. he kept referring to his son, who seemed pretty dis-interested. but clearly, he’d listened to many a story about his dad’s Z and finally, they are face-to-face with one similar to the one of legends. he recalled the wooden steering wheel, so i pulled mine down out of the garage and showed him. popped the hood, and showed off a clean and simple engine compartment. he noted that we must be in to cars, and i agreed, as i gestured to my son’s E12 BMW. carl’s jr beckoned, and they walked off down the road, certainly sharing more Z stories as they walked. i went back to the task at hand. beige to grey interior.
